AWAYSI as an organization discovered that the northern region has suffered series of violence and youth restiveness that has led to loss of sources of livelihood, women have been widowed and are left with no shoulder to lean on and to cater for their families, thousands of orphans are left without any source of livelihood thereby forcing many of these youths to get involve in unwholesome behaviors which has plunged the region into endless fear, uncertainty and a bleak future.

Women are often victims of rape, prostitution and other gender based discriminatory practices in their daily struggle to fend for themselves and their families.

Many out of school children mostly orphans are roaming the streets with no hope of a better future. This ugly situation has increased crime rates. The region is battling with vices including drug abuse, banditry, prostitution, lawlessness, and other vices on daily basis. The situation is becoming more overwhelming and worrisome to anyone that cares to know. It portends grave danger for the youths and the society if nothing urgent and meaningful is not done to address the situation.

The birth of AWAYSI as stated above is to compliment the effort of government at the local, state, and federal level towards harnessing the potentials of the youthful population for productive use and channel same towards the development of the region and the country in general.
